Why Dogs Make Great Pets As a dog lover I will explain why dogs are the better pet to have. We go back a long way with dogs. They have been helping us out every since humans stopped being foragers, and started being farmers. Scientists believe this happened over ten thousand years ago. So as you can see, we share a long rich history with dogs. In modern times, dogs are just as helpful. They sit at your feet when you are reading the paper. They get up and investigate if someone rings the doorbell. You will always feel protected when you have your trusty dog around. Dogs work as guards protecting families and their most valuable belongings. Moreover, dogs can assist firefighters by sniffing out people trapped under rubble or those hidden behind flames of a fire. If there happens to be a fire in the middle of the night, your dog will wake you up. He or she will bark and make sure everybody in your house is safe. Dogs have been doing this sort of thing for hundreds of years. Many disabled people live with trained dogs. These animals are versatile, intelligent and loyal. By far, dogs are the more superior pet than any other pet. Another thing that dogs are good for is going and getting help for their masters when their masters are injured. For example, many farmers, working on the far end of their fields, have become injured. Their loyal dogs race to get help, and bring it back to their fallen master. Can you ever imagine any other pet doing this? Dogs are friendly, loyal house pets. They are intelligent so they can provide services to people, such as working with police officers at airports by searching bags for bombs and illegal drugs. They will warn the people around them of possible danger. Dogs can be trained to do almost anything. They can run and fetch, they can sit up, they can even bark on cue. There are many people who train their dogs to do complicated activities, and then enter them into contests. In addition to be trained to compete, they can also be taught to entertain. Dogs play heroic characters in many movies. Dogs are considered as great family pets. They do many great things for us such as, make great companions; they are very loyal, loving and friendly animals. They can be considered as therapy for those who have lost a family member or loved one. A dog can make a person feel secure and loved. A dog makes the world a better place to live in.
